Il Torriozzo
Small guardtower used during periods of historic territorial disputes between Florence and Siena
This loft was made by restructuring and restoring an old guard tower located on the one end of the hamlet. One gains entry by way of a small set of stairs leading from the private garden which boasts a beautiful wisteria plant and offers an amazing view to the woods and vineyards in front of Castellina in Chianti. A table, chairs, and comfortable deckchairs allow for a relaxed enjoyment of the environs. Entering into the apartment one is immediately aware of the original purpose of this loft, much beloved by our guests: four windows and two loopholes which back in the day were necessary to keep watch over the territory, today allow light and air to enter.It consists of a large living room with double sofa/pull out bed, and a spacious kitchen corner amply furnished with cooking utensils. An open staircase brings one to a manner of balcony where the master bedroom has been created. The roof beams and clay bricks grant to this space the very flavor of tuscany known throughout the world. There is a shower in the bathroom.
